The Cyanotype Machine

Traditional Photography entails two distinct experiences: Taking a photograph and printing it. The wonder of printing happens when a seemingly blank piece of paper, touched only by light, is inserted into a clear liquid and slowly, gradually an image appears.

The Cyanotype Machine transposes this experience to a hybrid digital /physical action. It uses the cyanotype process, one of the oldest methods of photographic printing, as a template for the sense of wonder of creating a photographic image.

The Cyanotype Machine was part of “And the Ship sales On” in July 2021 at the JCCAC gallery in Hong Kong
